Hong Kong Emergency Medical Services Corps
Introduction
Background
The Hong Kong Emergency Medical Services Corps (HKEMSC), under the Hong Kong Society of Professional Nursing, is a volunteer disciplinary emergency team that promotes the spirit of volunteerism through emergency medical services, providing first aid and related services to the public at large-scale events and mass gatherings. The HKEMSC is an officially recognized charitable institution of a public character in Hong Kong, upholding the mission: "Medical rescue from the heart; serving the community in times of emergency."

The Hong Kong Emergency Medical Services Corps (HKEMSC) is a volunteer disciplinary uniformed team, registered on 11 July 2012 and became a charitable organization in Hong Kong on 12 April 2013. In its early days, members mainly came from the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) of the former British Garrison in Hong Kong before 1997, rather than from the former Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps. After the handover, the British Garrison withdrew from Hong Kong. Nevertheless, the emergency and tactical medical training provided by the Corps in the past is undoubtedly worth preserving. Our members include doctors, nurses, and trained volunteers, mainly supporting regular emergency ambulance services. In recent years, HKEMSC has been actively promoting emergency medical technology training, collaborating with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) in the United States and Training Qualification UK (TQUK), providing challenging emergency medical training courses for the Corps.
Vision
To become the most outstanding first aid and emergency rescue uniformed team, dedicated to saving lives and serving the community.
Mission
Through a well-trained and professional volunteer team, to provide efficient and voluntary emergency rescue services—including land and marine rescue—for the public, saving those in danger and distress. Through military and adventure training, we also aim to cultivate young people's self-confidence, adaptability, and perseverance, fostering personal character and leadership development.
Supporting Organization
The Hong Kong Society of Professional Medical Care is the supporting organization of the Hong Kong Emergency Medical Services Corps. The Society's Occupational First Aid Certificate is recognized under Chapter 509A of the Laws of Hong Kong by the Hong Kong SAR Government. The Society conducts annual occupational first aid examinations for Corps members, and successful candidates will be awarded relevant certificates. Most courses and examinations are held at the Society, which also dispatches instructors to commercial organizations, volunteer groups, and schools to conduct first aid training as needed. The Society maintains a close relationship with the Corps and provides related first aid and nursing training to its members.
