Background
The Hong Kong Society of Professional Medical Care, established in 2004, is a non-profit academic professional voluntary charitable institution and Non-governmental Organization (NGO). With a professional approach, the Society is dedicated to enhancing health care knowledge among people from different sectors of society. We are also deeply concerned about the quality of medical and health services, and therefore, have developed a wide range of professional training courses to improve the service standards of healthcare personnel. In addition, we provide high-quality, practice-based courses for secondary school graduates, equipping them for employment in both public and private hospitals, as well as elderly care homes.
The Society’s core members include former personnel of the Royal Army Medical Corps, trained at the Royal Army Medical College. After the handover, the former Chief Medical Officer of the British Military Hospital in Hong Kong continued to practice locally and now serves as the Chairman of our Medical Director Committee. Our local medical advisory team also includes prominent figures such as Dr. Stephen Siu (Honorary Clinical Professor, Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong) and Dr. Lau Tin-Kei (Clinical Professor, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong).
As Hong Kong's healthcare environment continues to evolve and the medical system adapts accordingly, frontline healthcare workers are facing increasing workloads and expanding responsibilities, resulting in greater pressure on nursing staff. In response, our Society has designed a series of professional medical and nursing courses to provide learning opportunities for frontline healthcare workers, empowering them to confidently meet the challenges of their evolving roles.
